SCHERR CHIROPRACTIC CLINIC

Since relocating to Kemmerer in December of 2017 to be closer to family, Dr. Casey has since open the clinic to serve the Kemmerer/diamondville community full time. Dr. Casey has been practicing since 2009 and uses traditional straight forward adjustments to relieve pressure on the spine causing nerve irritation.

Kids and Chiropractic

The birth process, even under natural and controlled conditions, is potentially traumatic. The pulling, pushing and twisting of the newborn's neck and spine during birth will commonly cause the small moldable vertebra to be pushed out of alignment. Nerves exiting these vertebra send information to all areas of the body and while irritated can wreak havoc on an infant's or child's body. Because the spine continues to develop into your twenties, the misaligned spine might be the underlying cause of symptoms as varied as colic, earaches, unexplained crying or pain, poor appetite, difficulty in breathing, and allergic reactions. We put special emphasis on evaluation of your little one's development that will help improve your child's overall health and wellness. Adjustment techniques are modified for the child's weight and size. It's a wonderful gift to be able to give your child the gift of health through preventive and corrective care before problems occur later in life. Keep in mind that good spinal hygiene/posture is a crucial component in your child's good health.

Many parents will ask if it is safe to have their kids adjusted. My response is always yes. My own children are adjusted and if I didn't think it was safe I would not adjust them. It may look the same for kids to get adjusted as adults but it is a very different amount of pressure and force used.

Cold Laser

What is Cold LAser

LLLT, also called cold laser therapy or photobiomodulation therapy, is a type of phototherapy designed to repair tissue, reduce pain and inflammation, target fat and provide other benefits for patients in both medical and veterinary treatments. The capabilities of low-level lasers have been used in fat loss and pain relief for over 50 years.

During a treatment regimen, a small low-level laser therapy device emitting laser beam or visible nonthermal lasers is placed over the target area. The low levels of light penetrate the tissue without heating or damaging the skin.

Unlike traditional lasers, which use around 300 watts, cold lasers use between five and 500 milliwatts. True to their name, they don’t burn the skin or produce pain, and the FDA gives them NHN (non-heating instruments) classification. In contrast, a laser used for surgeries cuts through the skin and can lead to severe scarring and pain.

Pregnancy and Chiropractic

Roughly 50-72% of pregnant women develop low back pain (LBP) and/or pelvic pain at some time during their pregnancy, often worse at late stages due to the baby's head pressing down on a woman's back, legs, and buttocks, irritating her sciatic nerve. For those who already suffer from lower-back pain, the problem can become even worse with pregnancy.

Pregnancy-related low back pain (PLBP) can be a highly debilitating syndrome that accounts for the most common cause of sick leave for pregnant women. Statistics show one out of ten women will experience daily DISABLING LBP for at least two years following delivery.

Because of the limited number of treatment options available for the pregnant woman due to mother and fetus safety, and given the high propensity of potentially disabling PLBP that can significantly limit function and quality of life, chiropractic care is often the safest and fastest way for relief. Chiropractic offers a non-invasive approach to managing lumbopelvic pain that uses many different approaches.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy can help with:

  • Maintaining a healthier pregnancy

  • Controlling symptoms of nausea

  • Increasing the likelihood of full-term delivery

  • Reducing the time of labor and delivery

  • Relieving back, neck or joint pain

A 2009 research paper of 78 participated studied disability, pain intensity, and percent improvement after receiving chiropractic care to treat pregnancy-related PLBP. Here, 73% reported their improvement as either “excellent” or “good.” For disability and pain, 51% and 67% (respectively) experienced clinically significant improvement! Researchers followed up with them eleven months later and found 85.5% reported their improvement as either “excellent” or “good!” For disability and pain, 73% and 82% (respectively) experienced clinically significant improvement!

Because of the biomechanical changes that occur in the low back and pelvis over a relatively short amount of time during pregnancy, the center of gravity shifting forward to the front of her pelvis. The displaced weight increases stress on all of her joints. As the baby grows, the woman's weight is projected even farther forward which increases her low back curve and therefore placing extra stress on her spinal disks. LBP also is often worse during the later stages of pregnancy due to the hormone Relaxin preparing the pelvis for delivery by widening the pelvic girdle, but is not limited to just the Pelvis and SI joints.

Treatment options include:

- lumbopelvic exercises
